An Old World Italian Invitation With Watercolor Scenery and A Custom Crest

An Old World Italian Invitation With Watercolor Scenery and A Custom Crest

Nothing excites us more than a destination wedding that is filled with inspiration at every look. This invitation suite inspired by #CeciBride Johanna’s Tuscan venue was designed to showcase this treasure trove of rich history, stunning scenery, and textures that burst with life. The couple’s old world Italian fiesta theme perfectly encapsulated the charming nature of this landscape and their unique story that led to this dream wedding.

Starting with the save the date, we wanted to take guests on a trip through the places and things that shaped the couple’s relationship. In order to do so, we created a map with several focuses on Germany, Africa, and Italy. As the story goes, doctors Johanna and fiance Marc met at a clinic in their home country of Germany. In the beginning, they split their time between Munich and Cologne where they both lived and worked. After getting engaged on a trip to Botswana and Seychelles, they chose to settle in Munich where Marc’s company, Labor, was centered. Finally, they bought a vacation home in Florence, which led them to hold their wedding in the nearby town of Siena with family and friends. We incorporated all of these places and their significance with graphic symbols to mark what stage the couple associated these locations with. We also featured the horse that Marc gifted to Johanna as one of the first big extensions of his love for her; knowing she was a passionate horse rider and would cherish the horse dearly. Although elements of a couple’s story can be considered complex, our team always works hard to create designs that exhibit all of the details with ease. In this case, a custom map was the perfect way to set the scene for the Italian inspired invitation suite.

For the invitation, our team chose a traditional pearl white envelope with simplistic flourishes. Custom watercolor olive branches with deep blue olives painted the stunningly patterned pearl shimmer liner. When opened, the lush scenery of Borgo San Felice transported guests into the rolling hills of this chateau, detailed with the stone church and plaza where the couple exchanged vows. This soft watercolor technique brought the same calming serenity to the card as the landscape itself with blue skies and warm neutral tones. A custom crest framed with olive branches and the couple’s monogram was stamped in pearl foil on the center of the folio cover. Inside the folio, detail cards with coordinating hand painted olive branches were printed in silver foil for a luxe finish. On the invitation card, the names of the bride and groom were set in a classic script and printed in silver foil, while the event details printed in German in a rich dark green letterpress ink. Every piece in this suite was custom crafted to perfectly capture the story of this unique couple and the romantic essence of this gorgeous scene. From the save the date to the invitation, our old world Italian flair carried through every element.
