A Mexican Style Watercolor Invitation With Moravian Stars And Bright Florals

Creating wedding invitations for any client is always a special treat. Playing on personality and history in our designs allows us to really get to know the couples and create long-lasting friendships while working to #beautifyyourworld with each finished product. In the case of #CeciBride Jimena and fiance Carmine (Sammy), Ceci had been a part of the couple’s story even before they became our clients. This was an extra special project because Ceci had babysat for Sammy all while he grew up. Being a part of his big day meant so much to Ceci and our design team was over the moon to make an invitation suite that perfectly represented the couple’s romantic Mexico event with lots of cultural flair.

The couple chose San Miguel de Allende as their getaway destination for a handful of reasons. This unique city is known for its rich history, vibrant art scene, and well-preserved Spanish architecture and it was important to the couple that we incorporate the beautiful life that flowed throughout the location. Our design team was specifically inspired by the signature Mexican tin punched Moravian star lanterns that covered the venue. We chose to bring this shape to the custom monogram of the couple which was integrated into almost every piece of the invitation suite.

The invitation card was a work of art, featuring a custom hand-painted watercolor by Ceci Johnson that modeled the grand wooden doors that guests entered into on the day of the event. The adobe colored building was layered with graphic magenta bougainvillea, bright green palm leaves, and warm candles that led up to the door on a cobblestone pathway. Paintings of mixed styled Moravian star lanterns hung overhead for an authentic picturesque scene. On the front of the card, Royal blue script colored the event details that mirrored the clean white envelope which encased the card with custom floral stamps. The reply envelope was adorned with coordinating custom stamps painted with the watercolor door scene. Menus for the wedding's reception were framed with the same magenta florals and palm leaves which sat on the invite card and featured the couple's monogram design at the top. This stunningly vibrant invitation suite was absolutely one of a kind and so special to create since there was so much history and artistry involved in our design process.
